The LABORATORY of VITICULTURE has participated in numerous national and European research projects with main research areas the genetic study of the most important grapevine cultivars with the use of ampelographic and molecular methods, the effect of fertilization, irrigation and training systems on the physiology and ecophysiology of the vine, on the yield of different grapevine cultivars in vineyard conditions, on bud dormancy, and others.

  • Application of biochemical and molecular methods for the identification and study of the between and within grapevine cultivars genetic variability.
  • In-vitro techniques (micropropagation, cell- and tissue- culture) for grapevine propagation and improvement.
  • Grapevine propagation. Study of the effect of different treatments on cuttings’ rooting.
  • Comparative study of new training and trellis systems of the vines and evaluation of their viticultural products.
  • Study of the effect of viticultural techniques and applications on the physiology of the vines and their viticultural products.
  • Evaluation of table grape cultivars. Effect of various treatments on the qualitative and quantitative characters of the grapes and berries of table grape cultivars.
  • Study of the mechanism of dormancy and effect of different viticultural techniques and treatments on the physiology of the vine.
  • Effect of different rootstocks on the physiology of the vine and on the qualitative and quantitative characters of the grapes and berries.
  • Grapevine nutrition.

  • Εφαρμογή προγραμμάτων κλωνικής επιλογής στις ελληνικές ποικιλίες αμπέλου και αξιολόγηση των αμπελουργικών προϊόντων τους.
  • Αμπελογραφική περιγραφή και διάκριση των ελληνικών ποικιλιών αμπέλου.

  • Μελέτη του μηχανισμού του ληθάργου και επίδραση διαφορετικών αμπελοκομικών τεχνικών και επεμβάσεων στη φυσιολογία του πρέμνου.

  • Θρέψη της αμπέλου.
